I cannot really deny that I'm a couch potato. Whenever I have free time at home, gluing myself on the tube is a ritual. Anyways, I am very much into these two RACHs on TV: Rachael Ray (The Rachael Ray Show) & Rachel Zoe (The Rachel Zoe Project). For me their careers and lifestyles are inspiring and how they are incorporating work with hobby. I am a big fan of Rachael Ray because even though she really didn't have a formal education for cooking, she's the kitchen diva we can't really resist. Also, I am thrilled how Rachel Zoe became a crucial personality for a handful of celebrities today for she is one of the most sought-after premier stylist now. She has a style empire that caters to photo shoots, TV appearances, and awarding ceremonies.

FASHION OBSESSION

You see, the fashion industry is very much obsessed with quirky, peculiar things around. Starting off with models, stylists and designers really love models who have well-defined jaw line, elongated necks, and catchy collar bones. For they easily fit for high-fashion photo shoots and runway shows.

And on these fashion-forward days, mismatching gold and silver accessories is just a hackneyed thing. Before it's a capital sin, stylewise, but now it's just a matter of confidence and a bitchy strut. Look how the fashion editor of L'Uomo Vogue, Giovanna Battalglia mixes them with much style.

Lastly, who would say that being in your comfortable outfit should sacrifice style? We're already in the era where fashion meets function. It's just a matter of mixing proportions and silhouettes even on casual days to prove that style never takes a day off.

"Despair Can Deceive The Desperate."

"Despair Can Deceive The Desperate." - That's the most remarkable line for me so far in Paulo Coelho's The Winner Stands Alone. Again, in my surprise I cannot believe that I'd be this as keen for books like how I do for clothes. This is one of the fruits from National BookStore's book sale. Fifty percent was slashed from its original price which saved me 200 bucks. Anyways, I am very much into the story about fame, fashion, & glamour at the Canne's Film Festival, and also to all the quotable quotes and insights I'll benefit from this literary artwork.

This Fancy Breakfast

Curiosity led me to download Breakfast At Tiffany's, thanks to the technology, it didn't cost me to watch it through an obsolete "betamax" (as they call it). Really wondered how it was like in the 60's and everything but, the story was more on the spotlight for me. Love how Holly, Audrey Hepburn's character, was so free-spirited and how driven she was to be with her brother again, even if it means she have to sacrifice her feelings and all. Though, she never really knew herself and kept on leaving the past. Nevertheless, the movie was a surreal experience for a hopeless romantic like yours truly, plus its theme song Moon River added a romantic kick.

And I'm thinking how would it feel to have breakfast at Tiffany's? (lol)

Style Guide: LAYERING

Layering. In style equation, learning how to do a layered ensemble is a must. It adds edginess and quirkiness while subtracts awkwardness to the look. You can instantly have two to three styles in one just by putting up the right pieces together. Also, use it purposely to have an instant update for day-til-night events. So this is how we rocked the 2011 Acquaintance Party of the College of Nursing & Allied Medical Health of Wesleyan University-Philippines. Full of bright lights, colorful decorations, nice very-premier-night-alike red carpet entrance, and feisty production numbers embraced all of the students and the staff.

A Perfect Couple

I never knew that I'd be this enthusiastic scouring books on sale as much as finding for graphic shirts on boutiques. Y'see, I've stopped reading books since high school, but my passion for reading never ended. That's why when I saw this Gossip Girl books on steaming hot sale in National Book Store, I did not hesitate on purchasing it. There are plenty of episodes (if I may say) to choose from, but I chose this cover with Chuck and Blair which were my favorite couple with all the series I'm glued to. Fashionably cute and delightfully delish on my eyes.

The INMARVINCIBLE Way (v.1)

So today, held the 20th birthday of one of my closest friend - take note: we've been friends for seven years to date - Marvin. We have started our friendship, together in a huge circle, in the campus grounds of the College Of The Immaculate Concepcion where we both had our secondary education. Yes, in our group back then, there were really dull, awkward, uneasy days - honestly speaking. But those were just a small part compared to tons and tons of laughter, trippings, quirkiness, and relaxed moments together with our other friends. I reckon we have easily jived the sound of friendship because of our shared commitment to SHOPPING. Yeah, we have scoured the corners of them fancy malls to the stinky town markets and bangketas just to have that unique piece. Okay, to sum it up, there is one word to describe us: SPONTANEOUS, baby (lol).

For college, we also shared the same career path, and that is being a dedicated registered nurse someday (haha). But this time, everything gets different. In an unexpected spin, we have came to point of being matured enough to handle things our way. To play with problems like they are just part of our body's homeostasis. But our adventures in style got better and spicier, he became more and more sort of a risk-taker when it comes to fashion. And the latest is, have launched our online boutique, The Look For Less Ensembles (click here) as business partners.He's never afraid on cultivating his own sense of style and fearlessly showing the real "Marvin". Although a lot of love problems came, and to points where we have seen him struggle to every heartache he had, but our friends and I never showed that he is alone, yet we proved that friends are better than lovers (haha).

I Know WRITE?

So I carry with me my frustration on being a journalist some day. I can still perfectly visualize my grade school days when I was piously participating whenever there are activities for radio journalism, writing competitions, and the likes. But I never really think of it as a career, so I didn't line it as a choice for college. Now, I would always be enthusiastic on news shows and news channels. I adore Karen Davila for being a credible newscaster, but she is not afraid of the technology we have now and projecting her fearless fashion sense. I would always watch her daily morning talk show, Headstart in ANC, and eye on her stylish ensemble. I wish I could enroll in a crash course for creative writing, I reckon not for a living, but for shaping the craft.

At some point now, I would want to be working in a magazine. Really, I reckon it'd be exciting to have a monthly column or article, or somehow working on the magazine cover and editorials like Vince Uy does for Preview. It makes me wonder how it feels to have deadlines and to be working with the most sought-after personalities, stylists, photographers, models, and editors in the print & fashion industry. But I think that's a lot of BST (blood, sweat, & tears) to be going that far. So in that case, there's still a fall back for me. Like what Andrea, played by Anne Hathaway, in The Devil Wears Prada. She became the second assistant for the editor-in-chief of the, what the movie say, fashion bible - Runway. In that case, it would not be the same coz she never really wanted to be working in a fashion magazine, but it's fine. It's just a matter of acceptance and loving the present. I'm just thrilled with the feeling to be on the spotlight for covering shows and events.

They say to leave a legend on earth, we should first, plant a tree, secondly, have a child, and lastly, write a book. I can remember when I was in my sophomore or maybe junior year in high school, I planned of writing a book. And well, it just stayed a s a plan. I think to write a book, means you did some research and in-depth study on your, well, topic. Like what I learned from Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) in Sex And The City, when she read the greatest love letters for her new book to come. It somehow inspired me coz she writes what her heart speaks out. I also get from her that when you have a writer's block, just get a sound sleep and the next morning, you'll totally know what to write. You see, writers inspire the the most of us. In all sense, they make our world colorful by adding inputs in our life that we live into. Just what Paulo Coelho does in his books, he inspires us by feeding our minds with things really happening around now. His Like The Flowing River,that's full of inspirational words from experiences he gained in life. Writing a book is not merely a business, it's a lifestyle of inspiring others. I hope one day I can have my own book published. Well, think I have to spare a couple of years to have that actually written, and so much have yet to be learned.

Danica Magpantay x Preview

I was astonished the other day when I saw Danica Magpantay on the cover of Preview's August issue.  Daryl Chang, the fashion editor of Preview magazine, even mentioned in her blog post that this is an answered prayer for all the readers who are dying to to have a break from all the celebrity covers. Love it that her bone structure was emphasized well, and her hairstyle here is divine.
